Strategic Marketing. Several informants are enjoining business owners to market more now than in the past. I fit with one other piece of advice, you need to commercialize strategically. What I mean is that you need to recognize who you’re directing with your marketing efforts and then concentrate your marketing to those persons in the locations they’re most potential to be found out. Scattergun marketing; blind mailers, fliers in postboxes and another types of blanket marketing, is a waste of time and money now more than ever. Consumers are being so much more selective in their buying decisions. We need to take the time to distinguish our target markets and make a message that is exciting and interesting to them.
Strategic Partnerships. Get companies that offer products and services that are raw complements to your offerings. Each would market for another in their locating and when a buyer completed taking their oil changed, that service attendant could offer to make an appointment at the car washing and the detailing shop with a discount if scheduled today. The former businesses would of course act the same. It’s a great technique for each business to gain their exposure with petty financial investment funds.
